Ever see a movie with a friend? Of course you have. Share your thoughts and see if you can come to a collective agreement on what you saw, how it flowed and how good it was? Probably every night right. We at Geek For E call that a ‘Review In The Round’ and this week it’s Puss In Boots with Rock & Alex.
Towson vs. Hopkins: who will win the Munchies Truck Tour?
Time’s running out for all you Harold & Kumar fans; their Munchies Truck Tour will be stopping in Baltimore, and only your votes will tell ‘em to stop at Towson University or Johns Hopkins! Y’know, because they’re too tweaked to figure it out for themselves.
Hey, the swag alone is worth fighting for this visit. ‘Cause you know it’ll be legend — wait for it — dary.
And you don’t even need a Student I.D. to get in on the action, you just need the wanna. And you know you wanna.
Movie Review: Paranormal Activity 3
Once upon a time, there were two little girls. They lived in a big house with Mommy, Step-daddy and their own pet demon. Except the demon wasn’t really a pet. And things didn’t end up Happily Ever After. The tagline for Paranormal Activity 3 is “Discover how the activity began”. And damn if they don’t show you. Vividly. Fasten your seat belts kiddies, it’s gonna be a bumpy night.
Reason #338 for wishing you were at Screamfest LA: Singularity
Let’s face it; short films are awesome, but we rarely get to see them outside of bits during the Oscars (and if you’re lucky, at the AFI during their pre-Oscar shorts fest). But sometimes, and I say sometimes, we’ll get a peek at a short film that sounds so awesome I’ve gotta share. This Saturday at this year’s Screamfest LA — the horror movie fest any self-respecting genre geek slavers over — they’ll be showing the short Singularity. You wanna know more about it? Of course you do.
Movie Review: Batman: Year One (Blu Ray DVD)
Batman: Year One is the new direct-to-DVD animated movie from DC Comics and Warner Brothers Animation and is based of the critically acclaimed, and often borrowed from, story by comic book legend Frank Miller.
Batman: Year One follows two main plots over a selected period of time during the first year of Bruce Wayne’s run as the Batman and Jim Gordon’s fight for justice within the Gotham Police Department. Both plots were used within the two Chris Nolan Batman films and actually gave more flesh to the story and the characters then what we get to see here. Just like in the Nolan films we get to see a young Bruce Wayne come back to Gotham City and start his crusade against crime by becoming a terror in the dark known as the Batman. Jim Gordon and his wife Barbara arrive from Chicago to Gotham as a place for Jim to start over and reset his police career. While working for the Chicago Police Department, Gordon’s “sense of honor and duty” landed him in the middle of internal issues due to his involvement of Internal Affairs and police corruption.

Bmore Screening: Paranormal Activity 3 – Oct 19th
I hate scary movies. You know the ones that “could” happen in real life. Such as the almost too famous Paranormal Activity. Well the heads of Paramount obviously don’t hate them, so much so that we are now on part 3!
Only thing I hate more than scary movies are scary movies with children in them! Children of the Corn, Shining (damn those kids!) and many others.
Geek for e is happy to hand out a bunch of free passes to you all for the upcoming screening of Paranormal Activity 3. But you will have to work a bit for these!
Movie Review: The Big Year
No, they didn’t make this up; The Big Year is based on the novel “The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature, and Fowl Obsession”, by Mark Obmascik. Birders really do have something called The Big Year. Or rather, there are several types of Big Year events throughout the world. It’s one of the many, many things you get to learn about birding in this movie. How there’s often a difference between birding and birdwatching is one. That birders are probably cooler than you is another. (They’ve probably been to more places and seen more things in one year than the average Joe Blow Couchsitter, that’s for sure.) And btw, Attu Island, Alaska? Kind of a big deal. The Big Year pulls you into the world of birding, makes it look crazy, cool and amazing. With this movie, it’s easy to see why people are drawn to it.
