Okay, let’s get this straight right now; I liked this movie. No seriously, I did. Had a great time, laughed out loud, bounced in my seat. And I’m not ashamed. In a world where someone can come along, remake a movie that never needed to be remade…and actually do it justice? Well then, there’s enough room for both films in that happy, shiny world. Anybody thinking the director of Hustle and Flow would grab the wheel of this remake and cock it up has another thing coming. A fun, bouncy, dance-y thing.
Movie Review: The Thing (2011)
Prequels can be awesome (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) or a childhood-raping nightmare (Star Wars Episodes I-III). Usually all you can hope for is something that makes you love the source material even more (X-Men: First Class, Mallrats), or lets you forget about that last crappy sequel (Fast Five). The Thing, a prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of 1951’s The Thing From Another World (all of which are based on the excellent short story “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell, Jr.) seems to have all the cards stacked against it. But it rises above the slings and arrows of outrageous Hollywood overreaching and is instead a pleasant surprise; a movie that blends well with, and may even better, the one that came before.

Bond…Crazy Pyscho Killer Bond
That’s right! Our favorite cool and methodical psycho killer from ‘No Country For Old Men’ is suiting up as the next James Bond villain. In the as yet unnamed ‘Bond 23’ sequel he’ll match wits with Daniel Craig (Layer Cake). Says Bardem, “I am very excited. My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun.”

Interview: Luke Evans & James McTeigue from “The Raven”
Baltimore Poe fans got a real treat on this year’s anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe’s death; actor Luke Evans and director James McTeigue from the film The Raven came to town to honor the scribe by laying a wreath at Poe’s graveside. They also took the time out of their incredibly busy schedules (Luke Evans is shooting The Hobbit, and James McTeigue is in pre-production on his next film, Message from the King) to sit down and answer a few questions.
So now we all know what Musketeers films James really enjoys, and where to find Luke when he’s not filming (hint: you can get in for a song….)

Comic Review: Batman #1 (2011)
Who isn’t a fan of Batman? The ever popular comic book hero, the man behind the mask.
Who doesn’t like to see a bit of a darker side (see The Dark Knight) to Batman? I know I do, give me some bain and knocking heads in the dark side streets of Gotham.
DC Comics have released a new storyline for you Batman freaks out there and even for the newbies. I picked up the new comic via the DC Comics app on my iPad2. I must admit I am loving it!
