Emotional roller coaster in a good way.  Very funny, very sad, very uplifting and very real.  Terrence Howard steals the show.  Skews to the 30+ audience, but wide enough appeal for black and white. A+

Movie Review: Bad Grandpa (2013)

As a huge fan of Johnny Knoxville and the whole Jackass crew, I had high hopes for Bad Grandpa. Unfortunately, for me, this film added one fundamental element that all Jackass movies should be without…a plot. The movie follows old man Irving (Johnny Knoxville) and his grandson, Billy (Jackson Nicoll), as they travel across the country to reunite Billy with his estranged father while his mother serves out her time in prison. Basically, it is the perfect coming of age story…that is, until you actually meet old man Irving.

Movie Review: Escape Plan (2013)

My thoughts on seeing Stallone and Schwarzenegger finally team up were the same as my thoughts on seeing Manny Pacquiao fight Floyd Mayweather… if it ever happened, it would be too late. To my surprise, I was wrong. The Escape Plan has everything needed to make a great ’90s action film: catch phrases, plot holes, and plenty of action. Stallone and Schwarzenegger are great together, making a perfect throwback movie to their heyday. Sure, there are some continuity issues, but who cares? We get to see two great action stars tear through a prison like it was guarded by elementary school safety guards.

“Look at me….I’m the Captain now!” – psycho looking Haitian border

There’s something about the way that line is delivered in the trailers that’s just good and eerie.  Makes me wonder where the casting Director finds such a guy to play a role like that.  Anyhoo…you don’t care about that, you want a code to see a special sneak.  Click below the psycho for the info you need!

Don Jon, B+: Compelling freshman directing effort by Levitt. NOT a chick-flick, almost a porn with plot.  3rd act had no choice.
