Ah those Bella’s…young, gorgeous and great pipes to boot, what’s not to love about this crew?  The Barden Bellas are back for the follow up to the 2012 smash hit that had you re-singing the pop songs through the ages.  This time, an embarrassing performance snafu boots them to the bottom of the acapella world, but you know that won’t keep these gals down (especially with Rebel Wilson in tow).  An international competition beckons that no American team has ever won – and you know how the Bellas are gonna rock it!  Wanna catch the Baltimore screening with us?  This one’s gonna take some moxy, some soul, some glitz & glamour if you can…and of course a YouTube account.  Click below the banner for contest/ticket details!

A film written and directed by Kevin Smith

From the singular mind of writer/director and podcaster Kevin Smith, and conceived from one of Smith’s own Smodcast’s, TUSK is a story unlike anything that has ever been committed to screen before. A tale that is equal parts hilarious and horrifying, TUSK will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Swag Bag: Obvious Child (2014)

Fan of Jenny Slate?  I am.  My first exposure was as Sarah Guggenheim on Showtime’s ‘House Of Lies.’  Sorry, I wasn’t a fan or even remembered her from her SNL days, and her sitcoms from the years never stuck her image in my head like ‘Lies’ did – she made me want to like her.

Jenny’s back with Obvious Child in theatres now.  Based on the short story of the same name, it follows Donna (Slate) as she navigates the whirly ways of an unplanned pregnancy in your twenties.

Wanna catch it this week?  For free?  How about we throw the swag in the image in with too??  You get all, a ticket for two to see it locally at The Charles in Baltimore, a gray night-t, and a grab bag of must have essentials for a night on the town followed by a walk of shame (aspirin for the hangover, a condom for safety, lip gloss to keep it styling, hairband to pull back your locks, and a box of Chiclets to keep your breath tight).

How do I get, what do I need to do?

FantasticFest film Besties comes to VOD in January: wanna see some pics?

In a better, more hipper life, I attend the Alamo Cinema & Drafthouse all the time.  But in reality I just read about it.  So when I heard the buzz about the Alamo’s FantasticFest-screened high-school thriller Besties, I was intrigued.  But figured I’d never get a chance to see it until about three years from now, when I stumbled on it via Netflix.  Surprise!  It’ll be hitting Video-on-Demand next month.  Right during prime awards season, so we can all discuss it to death with the rest of the ac-tor films we’ve seen lately.

And since it’s hitting VOD, there’s the usual snippet of the film to be had, and a slew of promo stills.  But first, the synopsis:

Hoping to forge a friendship with the most popular girl in school, Sandy arranges to be left at home under Ashley’s supervision while her father goes out of town. Little does Sandy know that an unexpected visitor from Ashley’s past will leave the awkward freshman and her idol tangled up in a manipulative and deadly friendship.

The film stars Olivia Crocicchia, Madison Riley, Bobby Soto, Chris Backus, and Corin Nemec (The Stand).

Folks that have already seen the film at FF praise the performances of the young stars.  I’m a fan of Corin Nemec — hey, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, amirite folks? — so with those two things going for Besties, I’m ready to check it out.

‘Til the film hits a TV near you?  Check out these stills….  Y’know, after the jump.
