Newspaper Want-Ad reads: “Wanted – Someone to go back in time with me. You will get paid when we get back, must bring your own weapons, I have only done this once before, safety not guaranteed.” I was sold on this when the promos hit in March and am very happy to report that it does not disappoint. Movie Review: Disney-Pixar’s Brave (2012)
Pixar has officially grown up. From thematic material, to skillset in animation. Brave represents Pixar animations greatest achievement in digital animation and unfortunately it’s greatest disappointment in story lines. I’m not what you’d call a chick-chick. But I have to admit I’ve seen my fair share of chick movies. But I do love Josh Duhamel (he was very enjoyable in Transformers and Life As We Know It) and Julianne Hough (stop it, I liked the new Footloose!), so when I heard the director of Chocolat is putting his not-too-sappy style to a film version of Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven? Anyway, his latest is Moonrise Kingdom, and last weekend it set a record by posting “the highest recorded per-theater average for a live-action movie released domestically.” Not to shabby.
