Man On A Ledge: special “exclusive” preview!

I’m always iffy about saying something’s an exclusive.  Usually everyone on God’s Green gets the word out on this here interwebs.  But this is Man On A Ledge.  Sam Worthington, niiiiice.  Elizabeth Banks, the closest we’ll come to The Hunger Games ’til, well, that movie opens in a few months.  And the buzz I’ve been getting on this film just keeps getting better and better.

Plus, who doesn’t love a sneak peak at something?  So feast your eyes people!

Welcome Our Newest Writer: Tatiana!

Hey All!

I have been watching movies since I was old enough to sit up straight. Being raised with two older siblings, I was exposed to my fair share of classic 80’s movies—all the best that John Hughes and his comrades of that decade had to offer. I can remember sitting in our family friend’s basement and being forced to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street. I was 4 years old. (Thanks a lot Mom and Dad for not protecting your little girl against the harsh realities of burnt faces, striped sweaters, and metal-clawed gloves!)

My point is: I have loved motion pictures for as a long as I can remember. Yet lately, I find that my self-proclaimed “movie-buffness” is being called into question. The aforementioned title has been challenged by at least three of my friends this holiday season alone. And how, may you ask, did they come to this unfortunate conclusion? Because I had never seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and have yet to see A Christmas Story (gasp away, it won’t affect me in the least). I have no legitimate reason for never watching these movies. I simply did not have an interest in doing so.

The Black List 2011: what you SHOULD have been watching this year

The cool kids.  You know ’em.  The ones that know all the bands…that haven’t been signed yet.  The artists that are so underground even MICA doesn’t know they exist.  The movies that haven’t made it to production yet, but everyone’s talking about.

Well, I can’t do anything about those first two — I am so totally not cool enough — but I do have an in for the third.  Behold, The Black List.  It’s a yearly grouping of all the screenplays that folks in the know would love to have seen green-lit this year.

Earlier Black Lists have seen the likes of Juno and Lars and the Real Girl.  So this year’s list could have a few films that will have everyone talking next year.  And I’ve gotta say there are quite a few I’d like to see Right Now.

Sneak Peak of Dark Knight Rises for some IMAX theaters means Happy Christmas Batman fans!

Itching to get a real look at The Dark Knight Rises?  I for one can’t wait to see Anne Hathaway as Miss Selina Kyle (and get a peek at a young — maybe not evil? — Ra’s Al Ghul).  Well, if you’re near an IMAX theater the chances are very good you’ll get your holiday wish.  Warner Brothers is releasing a peek at the prologue of the film on December 16th here in the States (UK folks’ll get their peek on the 21st).  Straight from the home of Bugs Bunny:

TrailerWatch: Julia Roberts is one bad (step)mother in Mirror Mirror

So you’ve probably seen the trailer and posters for Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsman that came out just before Breaking Dawn pt 1 opened this Friday.  But did you know there’s another Snow White story knocking around?  It’s called Mirror Mirror, and it’s a lighter touch than Huntsman‘s serious tale.  And it’s good to see that there’s a fun romp coming out March 2012 (Huntsman is slated for a summer 2012 release.)

Reason #338 for wishing you were at Screamfest LA: Singularity

Let’s face it; short films are awesome, but we rarely get to see them outside of bits during the Oscars (and if you’re lucky, at the AFI during their pre-Oscar shorts fest).  But sometimes, and I say sometimes, we’ll get a peek at a short film that sounds so awesome I’ve gotta share.  This Saturday at this year’s Screamfest LA — the horror movie fest any self-respecting genre geek slavers over — they’ll be showing the short Singularity.  You wanna know more about it?  Of course you do.

Bond…Crazy Pyscho Killer Bond

That’s right!  Our favorite cool and methodical psycho killer from ‘No Country For Old Men’ is suiting up as the next James Bond villain.  In the as yet unnamed ‘Bond 23’ sequel he’ll match wits with Daniel Craig (Layer Cake).  Says Bardem, “I am very excited.  My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them.  So to play that is going to be fun.”
