“The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”
“La Luna”
“A Morning Stroll”
“Wild Life”Alex: I’m going to say that A Morning Stroll is the winner. This short animated film about a man who passes a chicken one morning is visually stunning as it changes from hand drawn to animated, to computer generated to real life in a blink of an eye.
Denise: Haven’t seen any of these — hoping to catch ‘em when they’re shown later this month at the Library of Congress!
Matthew: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore – this is such an awesome short film and the iPad app is amazing.
Rock: That’s pretty sad. I collect trailers and I can’t say I’ve seen a promo for nary a one of these. I have to go to the books and say La Luna. When in doubt, go with an intriguing storyline and mythical looking one sheet!
Score card…
Alex – A Morning Stroll
Denise – ?
Matthew – The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
Rock – La Luna
SHORT FILM (LIVE ACTION) …the nominations go to:
“Pentecost”
“Raju”
“The Shore”
“Time Freak”
“Tuba Atlantic”
Alex: I’m picking Tuba Atlantic as my winner. This is a movie about Oskar, a 70-year-old man with only six days left to live, and it isn’t as dark as the subject mater would suggest. In fact there are comical moments mixed around heartwarming scenes that show no matter how old you are and how much longer you have to live, there is still lots of life to live.
Denise: (See my comment above…sadly.)
Rock: Geez, where has my eye been…under a rock? I can’t place a one of these, so it’s lottery time. This is actually the type of category where you can score the most points. It’s always a pick out of the rabbits hat. I’ll say Time Freak. Just the story concept is good enough to make me want to see it. It’s a short…how bad could it be?
